I can’t be the one that spends 40 minutes looking for movies to watch on Netflix before maybe, perhaps, probably finding the right one.
Well, you’re in the right place because here, we will give you movie lists and review new and old movies and series that you can binge watch.
Your weekends have been saved! If you have seen any of the movies, feel free to share your thoughts too! Today, it’s the 2019 Nigerian Movie that just previewed on Netflix called “Black Rose”
Starring Blossom Chukwujekwu, Swanky J.K.A and some new fresh faces, it’s a movie that you did not see coming.
I first assumed it was going to be the usual, cliche Nollywood rich boy meets poor girl movie and I was already rolling my eyes.
To my “disappointment”, yes disappointment, things escalated very quickly.
Rose was a girl born to an extremely poor home. With two younger brothers struggling to pay fees, an older sister turning to prostitution to make ends meet for her family and a mother that was seriously struggling to keep everyone afloat after her husband passed away.
So, you can imagine her “luck” when she met Lagos big boy who she thought cared for her and was going to help her achieve a better life.
She thought she had found both love and the chance to help her family. So much so that she abandoned the prophesying of love by her mechanic friend (played by Swanky) to chase this dream man.
It was all a trap and a ton of drugs and sexual mishaps later, she has fallen even deeper than she ever thought.
She somehow found her way back up the hole of depression through the help of her family.
Honestly, I went through so many emotions during this movie. I’d have to give kudos to the story writers as I didn’t see the plot of the movie coming.
Yes, the end was quite predictable. Her secret lover who was also a mechanic at the end somehow became rich.
I just have a question for Nollywood writers, can the girl victim not make a better life for herself? Does she really have to find that life through a man?
Just my thoughts. Any thoughts for this movie? Let’s hear from you.
